Puryear’s Kayla Watkins made the All State Women’s Varsity Team, according to the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program announcement this week. Watkins is the only shooter from Henry County to be selected All-State. All-State shooters represent the best student-athletes that Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program has to offer. All-State team members must meet many criteria including; each athlete must have shot a certain number of registered competition targets, coaches must nominate the athlete for the All-State teams, athletes must have the highest overall shooting averages of SCTP participants in the state, and athletes must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Out of over 1,500 participants shooting in the TNSCTP this year, these athletes stuck out above the rest in the program. As members of the TNSCTP All-State teams, these shooters will represent Tennessee as ambassadors to the sport throughout the year as well as at the Grand American Trap Championships in Sparta, Illinois in August.
