TWIN
OAKS BOWHUNTERS CLASSIC The Clarksville Twin Oaks Bowhunters will host the 6th Annual Tennessee Classic, a two-day, 40-target all-traditional archery tournament, May 3-4, 2003, at their scenic, well-maintained range facility. The event will be shot on McKenzie animal-type targets representing most North American big game and exotic animals from Africa. The Twin Oaks Archery Range is considered one of the finest archery facilities in the Southeast and hundreds of traditional archers are expected to participate in the shoot. Shooting classifications will include self bow, long bow and recurve for men and women, and a single class for youths, cubs and pee-wees. Wooden arrows must be used in the self bow class. Sights, stabilizers, releases and mechanical rests are not allowed in any class. Three distinctive trophies will be awarded in each class. Various novelty shoots will be available to challenge the archer's skills and vendors will be present to display and sell traditional archery items. Food and soft drinks concessions will also be available. Registration will be from dawn to dusk on Saturday and from dawn to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Archers can shoot the course in one day or split the course over two days. A 20-target practice range will be open from Friday through Sunday and registered competitors may shoot unlimited rounds. A range with target bales placed at ranges up to 50 yards will also be available for practice and test shooting. Primitive camping will be allowed on the range. The campground will open Friday morning; however early arrival may be available upon prior coordination with the Twin Oaks Club. The Twin Oaks Archery Range is located off U.S. Highway 41A south of Clarksville (between Exits 11 and 19 on Interstate 24). For additional information, contact Mark Baggett, (931) 362-3717.
