Tennessee’s statewide deer harvest will fall below last year’s total but the Volunteer State still had a pretty good year, despite a bumper acorn crop that likely influenced hunter success. Across the state hunters harvest around 166,000 deer. While it was a good year overall, Tennessee hunters took some 174,000 deer last year. Henry County deer hunters did well and took a total of 5,254 animals. That total placed Henry County second among the ranks of the state’s 95 counties. Top county in the state as to total deer was Hardeman which chalked up 6,000 animals this past season.
