SPORTSMAN'S CHALLENGE FISHING TOURNAMENT
April 6th, 2002
Birdsong Marina, Camden,TN
One hundred sixteen men competed in the first leg of the Sportsman's
Challenge Tournament at Birdsong Resort
in Camden, Tennessee. Only two would take home the big money as the
weather was windy and the water rough. Many would try their favorite
"honey hole" only to find the conditions not as accommodating as one had
hoped for.
Michael Redfearn of Parsons, TN and Keith Hines of Waverly, TN
pulled in the five fish limit weighing in at 17.17 pounds to take first
place. John Hunt and Jim Story, both of Waverly, TN were just 1.18 pounds
behind the leaders with 15.99 pounds.
Almost four hundred pounds of bass were netted in the one-day tournament
sponsored, in part, by Sportsman's Challenge in Atwood, TN. Only twelve
teams returned empty-handed, and those not placing in the top 15 were
placed in a pool for cash and prizes.
The big bass went to John Hunt of Waverly, TN for pulling in a 7.10
pound monster. Michael Redfearn of Parsons, TN landed second place with a
5.66 largemouth.
