KENTUCKY LAKE QUAIL UNLIMITED

The Kentucky Lake chapter of Quail Unlimited held its first membership banquet and auction last Saturday night at the Paris Elks Lodge and thanks to the support of local and surrounding counties it was a resounding success.

“We had 189 people show and support our efforts to highlight the plight of quail and join efforts to restore and return this valuable resource to the countryside,” said cochairman Curt McDaniel. “Getting started is the hardest part and thanks to this good turnout our first event showed there is indeed support and interest out there.”

The Paris area has been good to conservation organizations and again showed it is a concerned community. Other organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and the National Rifle Association have enjoyed strong support here for years.

The QU committee would like to thank you for supporting our first event and plans are already underway to put more seed in the ground here in this area to help quail. From state wildlife agency acreage to private landlowners, the local chapter has plans to implement seed planting ranging from wheat, milo and millet to warm season grasses that provide both cover and food.
