The Henry County Gun Club will be sponsoring two fund raising shoots for the 4-H Scholastic Clay Target Program program for kids. The first shoot will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, April 1st at the Henry County Gun Club on Goldston Springs Road in Puryear, TN. A second fund raiser will be held on Saturday, April 29th. It’s billed as the Don Adams Memorial Shoot and will coincide with the World Biggest Fish Fry festivities that weekend. Hours will also be 9 AM to 3 PM. Both shoots will be open to the public. All ages are welcome. The Club will feature Skeet, Trap, and 5-Stand Sporting Clays. All funds and contributions will be given to the 4-H SCTP kids to help them with funding for 2006. Here in Henry County the program has grown as some 108 kids have signed up to participate this year, up from 74 boys and girls who signed on last year. This is the third year of the program statewide and Henry County has had more youngsters participating than any other county in the state. In the past TWRA purchased all targets for the program but this year kids have to purchase their own targets in addition to gun club fees. Shooting teams will average about 600 targets before entering competition at the regional level. Upcoming fund raisers will help defray cost for practice shoots, caps, vests, and tee-shirts. Although each kid pays a registration fee, it’s not near enough to cover all the costs related to the program. Last year teams advanced in state and regional competition and one team won second place in the nation Come out and support the kids! Concessions will be available.
