The Henry County Gun Club near Puryear, is again hosting a two-day National Appleseed Rifle Clinic on April 5-6. Clinics are being held all across the country and growing in popularity with the theme of spreading rifle marksmanship across America. “In addition, we present stories of the first day of the American Revolutionary War, April 19th 1775,” said club president Kimball Kelsey. “This is an attempt to pass on the patriotism and incredible marksmanship of our forefathers. They could make pinpoint shots at 500 yards without scopes. We want to restore this lost ability to the present generation. The stories of these daring men are exhilarating to young and old alike. We encourage the attendance of children, as well as parents and grandparents” Several expert instructors from the Revolutionary War Veterans Association are scheduled to be here. Any kind of rifle, 30-caliber and under, and any kind of sights are welcome. However, shooters will find it easier to use semi-autos. Cost of the clinic is $45 for one day, or $70 for two days. And anyone under 21, as well as active and reserve military, shoots free. Thus it is particularly enticing for children. We encourage pre-registration, but walk-ons are welcome. However, it will cost $5 more for them. Lunch will be served for a small fee. For more information log onto wwwhcgc.net or call club President Kimball Kelsey at 247-3941.
