National Guard FLW College Fishing
The Murray State University bass fishing team will present MSU president
Dr. Randy J. Dunn with a $5,000 check. The MSU team won the National Guard
FLW College Fishing Lake of the Ozarks tournament Oct. 3 and received
$10,000, of which $5,000 is awarded to the team’s school. National Guard
FLW College Fishing is the country’s largest tournament series for college
bass clubs where clubs compete for lucrative awards and a chance to fish
in the 2010 Forrest Wood Cup.
Thanks to their victory on Lake of the Ozarks, MSU students Kalem Tippett
and Steve Miller will enjoy a home field advantage in the National Guard
College Fishing Central Regional Championship on Kentucky Lake later this
month.
National Guard FLW College Fishing is heading to Kentucky Lake Oct.
31-Nov. 2 for its $100,000 Central Regional Championship, where college
teams compete for a top award of $50,000.
Teams representing 18 universities will take off from Kenlake Marina in
Hardin, Ky., at 7 each morning. Weigh-ins will be held daily at Murray
State University in front of Roy Stewart Stadium beginning at 4 p.m.
Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
Teams will fish for a top award of $25,000 for their university plus a
177TR Ranger wrapped in school colors and powered by an Evinrude or Yamaha
outboard for their bass fishing club.
