Duck Stamp Entry Beats the Deadline The winning entry for this year's Tennessee Junior Duck Stamp Contest almost didn't make the deadline. Campbell County High art teacher Georgea Green has had many students enter this contest over the years and this year she filled out all the paperwork and sent her entries via Certified Mail, just like always. Well, the only problem was the address had changed for the Tennessee Refuge and being certified mail, it was returned to sender. It arrived back in her hands the day before the judging. If you've seen the winning entry you know this was an exceptional piece of work and somehow, someway it and the other entries had to make it across the state quick. After a few frantic phone calls, Ms. Green found TWRA Judge Patricia Miller in Nashville, who was heading to the contest the next day. To make a long story short, they each made the time in their busy schedules and drove half the distance (2 hours each) on that very day to get the entry on it's way. Miller then took it the other 2 hours to the refuge office to meet the deadline. Even though they knew it was an exceptional work, little did they know it would win "Best of Show", and if not for their last minute efforts, it wouldn't have been. Congratulations to Amber Williams on her extraordinary work and congrats to Georgea Green and Patricia Miller on making it all possible.
