Waterfowlers across the region are still battling high water.
Flooding
is part of the hunting equation lately and ducks are scattered all over
west Tennessee where thousands of acres remain underwater.
The Mississippi River is out of its banks sending water over
rowcrops
all along the river. The same scenario exist throughout the Obion,
Forked
Deer, and Hatchie bottom areas. Ducks have too many places to go.
Locally, a few blinds are taking some mallards and wood ducks in the
upper end of West Sandy WMA. Some success has also come from Big Sandy
bottom and Gin Creek.
Hunters mobile enough to move to the backwaters are wading or
hunting from boat blinds and finding a few ducks in the shallows.
Overall, the hunting has been tough for most waterfowlers who are
still
hoping for less rain and more cold weather.
