DISABLED SPORTSMEN OF AMERICA
by Steve McCadams

There’s a group of deer hunters with a Henry County connection doing some good things for disadvantaged outdoorsmen.

Patrick Hallisey of Paris is the chapter coordinator for an organization known as Disabled Sportsmen of America. The Knoxville based organization has the motto “Make the Dream A Reality”.

Hallisey and some other sportsmen hosted a couple of hunts earlier this season here in Henry County. Earlier this week he sent word and a photo of a 14-year old Ryan Foltz of Crossville, who suffers from an enlarged face.

The DSA hunt was a successful event in more ways than one as the youngster bagged a 7-point buck that weighed 162 pounds. Michael and Joella Demorato of Puryear donated the gun for Ryan to hunt with.

The hunt was hosted by Daniel Meyers of South Fulton.

Hallisey and his group sure seem to have their hearts in the right place as they provide great outdoor opportunities for people who otherwise might never be able to partake.

If you’d like to know more about DBA contact Hallisey at 642-8895 or log onto their website at www.disabledsportsmenofamerican.org.

Steve McCadams is a professional hunting and fishing guide here in the Paris Landing area. He has also contributed many outdoor oriented articles to various national publications.
