   Supplementary Information

Waterfowl Activity: This survey had the best refuge waterfowl
distribution observed so far this year. Out of 16 impoundments & 2
reservoirs waterfowl were observed in 17 units. Over the past 2 weeks
several hundred birds been recorded in Pool 8 which was unusually high.

Hunting Pressure and Success: No Data.

Weather: Weather was mostly warmer than average with afternoon high in
the 50's. Refuge experienced rain 4 out of 7 days this week, with rains
sometimes heavy.

Habitat: Recent rains have brought the Pool 8 to higher elevation than is
typically reached. It is assumed that the extra water is the major factor
contributing to the increased waterfowl recorded in Pool 8. Steady rains
half shallowed Pool 7 again resulting in good waterfowl use about 50% of
the ducks recorded on this survey were observed in Pool 7.

Census Technique: Census complete X Census was a sample
Percentage of population covered

Observation was based on Ground counts.

Census Date: Jan 3, 2003
