Supplementary Information

Waterfowl Activity:   Ducks observed in Pools 3, Lower & Upper Pool 4, and 7 accounted for 88% of ducks recorded on survey.  Pool 7 had highest number of duck species (8) present. Lower & Upper Pool 4 and Elk Reservoir had the highest concentrations of geese.  These three impoundments accounted for 86% of geese recorded on survey.  Almost all waterfowl recorded on this survey were seen on the south side of the river, less than 1% were seen on the north side.

Hunting Pressure and Success:    No data - waterfowl season closed mid week.

Weather: Weather returning to seasonal norms.  Morning lows in the 20's and afternoon highs in the 40's and 50's.  No rainfall this week.  Three days of high winds with wind gusts up to 30 mph.

Habitat:   Received about an inch of rain on Monday.  Soils have become saturated so the rain added 2/10 to 3/10 of a foot of  water to all pools - this addition was entirely dependent on rainfall received.  Observed few waterfowl in corn fields. Heavy concentrations of geese in winter wheat fields.  Most ducks were observed in shallows where vegetation provided cover from the wind.
