Supplementary Information

Waterfowl Activity:    On survey date Lower Pool 2 and Pool 3 were frozen over again.  There were only 50 ducks observed in these two pools.  Highest number of ducks and geese were observed in Elk Reservoir and Pool 7, accounting for 61% of total number of ducks and geese recorded on survey.

Hunting Pressure and Success: Comments from hunters suggest that harvest success this past week was dependent on hunting location.  Several hunters reported harvesting their limit, while others reported poor success.

Weather:   Experienced a wide range of weather conditions this week.  Tuesday’s (Dec. 12) low temperature dropped to 16.  By Friday, weather moderated with afternoon highs in the upper 40's.  Wednesday experienced freezing rain during mid-afternoon, causing ice to form on vegetation and surface ice on shallow water areas.  Also, received approximately 1" of rain on Wednesday.  Pools 6 and 16 are still dry.

Habitat:   Large numbers of ducks were using woody shoreline vegetation for cover.  Most geese were observed in winter wheat fields that were drilled in September.
