"CASTING FOR A CURE"
KIDS FISHING RODEO
"GREAT FUN FOR A GREAT CAUSE"
Kids from across the area have been anxiously awaiting the return of the
"Casting For A Cure" Kids Fishing Rodeo. The wait is about over as the
event returns to Carroll Lake, located five miles east of McKenzie on U.S.
Highway 22, this Saturday morning.
From two-day fishing vacations on Reelfoot Lake, to outings on
Kentucky Lake with professional fishing guides, the rodeo has thousands of
dollars worth of prizes awaiting the young anglers. Some young angler
could win a day of fishing with fishing celebrity Bill Dance!
Bicycles, trophies, fishing rods and reels, gift certificates, and
more are just a few of the many items to be given away. Every kids will
receive a valuable packet of goodies when they check-in at the
registration tents.
The rodeo is free and open to all kids ages 15 and under. All
participants must check-in at the registration area, located in the main
parking lot, between 7-9 a.m. Actual competition will be held from 9-11
a.m.
Participants can drop off gear at the parking lot but parking will be
done off-site in adjacent fields and schools. Shuttle vans will be
provided to transport people to and from their vehicles.
All fishing will be done from shore and there's a special pier
designated for handicap anglers again this year.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The American Cancer Society.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency personnel will assist with
registration and weigh-in. The Carroll County Rescue Squad will coordinate
parking and Methodist Hospital of McKenzie will have an ambulance and
paramedics on-sight throughout the event.
"We invite all kids in the region to come join the fun," said Steve
McCadams, host of the rodeo. "There's a lot of folks volunteering their
time and efforts to make this a great event for both the kids and the
area."
Also on hand will be The McKenzie Bass Club who will host a Bassmaster
Casting Kids contest. Kids are encouraged to arrive early and partake of
this event.
TWRA will have a fresh water aquarium filled with fish and a large
display of various fish and animals in their traveling educational
trailer. And, there will even be a dunking booth with proceeds benefiting
the event.
Concessions will be available consisting of grilled hamburgers,
hotdogs, candy, and ice cold soft drinks. Henry School will have a
concession stand with all their profits going toward their Henry County
Relay For Life team.

Kids are asked to bring their own poles and tackle However, free
loaner rods and reels will be available at the registration tent, courtesy
of TWRA.
