BASS
TOURNAMENTS
DESCEND ON PARIS LANDING AREA
If you’re a bass on Kentucky Lake odds are you’ll encounter
a lure of some kind deposited right at your doorstep in the days ahead.
From deep drop-offs to shallow shorelines, practically all areas will be
tested as two solid weeks of bass tournament competition will challenge
the reservoir’s reputation.
Already in progress this week are the Triton boat owners and Triton Gold
series tournaments that have stirred up the water of the Paris Landing
area. Anglers have ventured here from several states and began hitting the
water last week in practice.
The event culminates Saturday afternoon after some 270 boats buzz the bass
waters for two days. It will be interesting to see how the fishing holds
up after some pretty intense competition for an extended period.
Meanwhile, before the Triton bass anglers get out of sight this weekend
will see the Bassmaster Elite series event roll into town. Big tents will
trade places at Paris Landing State Park where daily weigh-ins will be
conducted.
Some of the sports top names will be here and attempt to figure the bass
out.
Kicking off the week will be Odom’s Blue and Gray Marine’s Night With the
Pros which will be held Monday evening from 7-9 PM in the showroom. The
public is invited to attend and meet some of the top names in bass
fishing.
Pros on hand will be Shaw Grigsby, Gary Klein, Greg Hackney, Gerald
Swindle, and Terry Scroggins.
The first 50 visitors get a free Triton hat. Several other door prizes and
discounts will be offered during the meet and greet session.
Bassers from across the country and even some international ones will be
here in force practicing for three days and the actual competition is June
3-6.
Fans are encouraged to attend the Wednesday-Saturday daily launches (6
a.m. CT) and weigh-ins (4 p.m.) at Paris Landing State Park. After Day
Two’s competition
Thursday, the field will be cut to the top 50 anglers for Day Three. Only
the top 12 will go on to compete in Saturday’s Day Four.
Other activities Friday and Saturday at the Tennessee Triumph will begin
at 1 p.m. CT at Paris Landing State Park, featuring the popular Dog
Training & Retriever Demonstrations Brought To You By SportDog, as well as
a live concert by Nashville recording artist Greta Gaines on Friday, June
5, at the conclusion of the day’s weigh-in.
At 1:30 p.m. Friday, fans are invited to experience Bassmaster University,
which includes the “Ask the Experts” session with Elite pros at 3 p.m.
Saturday’s activities include the live taping of Hooked Up, hosted by ESPN
Outdoors personalities Mark Zona and Tommy Sanders. The show, which will
air live at 3:30 p.m. ET on Bassmaster.com, will preview Sunday’s final
weigh-in.
Between the bass fishermen, spectator boats, other fishermen, pontoons and
jet skis the Paris Landing sector of Kentucky Lake will be a pretty busy
place in the says ahead.

area. He has also contributed many outdoor oriented articles to
