ARE BASS BOUNCING BACK ON
 KENTUCKY LAKE?
by Steve McCadams

If a few recent bass tournaments held in the Paris Landing area are any indication, the bass population could be headed back in the right direction.
Anglers are asking themselves if the fish are making a comeback? While the jury is still out on the overall population and catch rate per hour increase, recent reports offer a positive sign.
Last weekend's Froggy Buddy Bass Tournament held on Kentucky Lake out of Paris Landing State Park has some hefty stringers taken. And the smallmouth were raising some eyebrows too as bass fishing legend Roland Martin was on hand to emcee the weigh-in, courtesy of Triton boats.
Taking top honors were the team of Scott Medlin and Eric Hensley of New Johnsonville, TN., for their 5-fish limit weighing 22.18 pounds. The catch earned them $10,300. Not bad for a day's catch!
Paris anglers Roger Buffington and Mike Foster were only eight hundredths of a pound out of the top spot, as their 5-fish limit weighed 22.10 pounds. The impressive catch earned them $3,000.
Rounding out the top five were Phillip and Larry Harris of Union City with 20.77 pounds, followed by Marshall Russell of McKenzie and Ronnie Watts of Wingo, KY., with 20.41 pounds. Fifth place went to Roger Pickard and Bobby Styers of Auora, KY., with 20-pounds even.
It took a 20-pound stringer to make the top five places. Big fish of the event was an 8.06-pound largemouth but a 7.38-pound smallmouth was second big fish.
Overall, some good stringers of bass have been taken this year. Whether or not the trend holds up remains to be seen but anglers are sure enjoying it while it lasts.
