Henry County based Two Rivers Bass Club has recently sponsored a new junior bass
club. Presently there are eight members, ages 9-14. The adult club provides boats and captains for outings on the lake, as well as supervision for pond-fishing outings, according to the club youth advisor Bob Hehn.

After a series of qualifying tournaments this spring, three members of the new club,  Barry Jones, Brandon Burton and Keely Gregory, have qualified for the Tennessee State Tournament to be held on June 7th on Lake Chickamauga near Chattanooga.

The Henry County anglers will be competing in the younger of two age groups, (11 - 14 and 15 - 18) with junior anglers from all over the state. The top spot and ultimate prize is qualifying for the National Guard Junior World Championship.
To help with the cost of travel and lodging, the junior club is selling candy, so if you see a box of this candy at some local establishments, or are approached by a junior angler, please help support their new club.

For information on the club contact Hehn at 641-0064.

Bass anglers from across the region will test the waters of Kentucky Lake Saturday as the 14th Annual Austin Peay State University Governors benefit bass tournament blasts off from Paris Landing State Park marina.

This is one of the largest tournaments on the lake each year. Last year some 259 boats participated.

Eleven thousand dollars in prize money will be awarded with a guaranteed first-place prize of $4,000, an increase of $1,000 from a year ago. Second-place is guaranteed $1,500. Third and fourth-place will receive $1,000 and $600, respectively. The top 25 places will receive prizes. Each boat also will have the opportunity to win a grand door prize drawing of $500. If the tourney winner is fishing in a Triton Boat, Triton Gold will pay an additional $1,000.

A MotorGuide trolling motor will be given away as a second door prize as well as a 150-HP Mercury outboard motor.

The tourney will begin 6 a.m., Saturday although all contestants must be checked in between 4-5:30 a.m., with a mandatory meeting on the water at 5:45 a.m. Registration entry fee is $110 after noon, Friday.
